【摘要】:Thispracticeprovideslaboratoryproceduresforratingtherelativebioresistanceofmetalworkingfluidformulations,fordeterminingtheneedformicrobicideadditionpriortoorduringfluiduseinmetalworkingsystemsandforevaluatingmicrobicideperformance.GeneralconsiderationsformicrobicideselectionareprovidedinPracticeE2169.Thefactorsaffectingchallengepopulationnumbers,taxonomicdiversity,physiologicalstate,inoculationfrequencyandbiodeteriorationeffectsinrecirculatingmetalworkingfluidsystemsarevariedandonlypartiallyunderstood.Consequently,theresultsoftestscompletedinaccordancewiththispracticeshouldbeusedonlytocomparetherelativeperformanceofproductsormicrobicidetreatmentsincludedinatestseries.Resultsshouldnotbeconstruedaspredictingactualfieldperformance.1.1Thispracticeaddressestheevaluationoftherelativeinherentbioresistanceofwater-misciblemetalworkingfluids,thebioresistanceattributabletoaugmentationwithantimicrobialpesticidesorboth.ItreplacesMethodsD3946andE686.1.2Inthispracticerelativebioresistanceisdeterminedbychallengingmetalworkingfluidswithabiologicalinoculumthatmayeitherbecharacterized(comprisedofoneormoreknownbiologicalcultures)oruncharacterized(comprisedofbiologicallycontaminatedmetalworkingfluidoroneormoreunidentifiedisolatesfromdeterioratedmetalworkingfluid).Challengedfluidbioresistanceisdefinedintermsofresistancetobiomassincrease,viablecellrecoveryincrease,chemicalpropertychange,physicalpropertychangeorsomecombinationthereof.1.3Thispracticeisapplicabletoantimicrobialagentsthatareincorporatedintoeitherthemetalworkingfluidconcentrateorend-usedilution.Itisalsoapplicabletometalworkingfluidsthatareformulatedusingnon-microbicidal,inherentlybioresistantcomponents.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
