【摘要】:Theviscosityvalueobtainedbythistestmethodgivesinformationabouttheflowpropertiesofthematerialunderhigh-shearconditionssimilartothoseencounteredduringapplication:brushing(seeTestMethodD4958),spraying,electrostaticdisk,orrollcoating.ThistestmethodissuitableforallpaintsandvarnisheswhethertheyareNewtonianinbehaviorornot.However,duetothenarrowgapbetweenthestationaryandrotarypartsofhigh-shearviscometers,thistestmethodismorereproducibleforpaintshavingfinerpigmentdispersionsasdeterminedbyTestMethodD1210.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheviscosityofpaints,varnishes,andrelatedproductsatarateofshearof12000sx2212;1.1.2Paintsandvarnishesthatdryveryrapidlymaynotgivereproducibleresultswiththistestmethod.Measurementsmadeatelevatedtemperaturesmayalsogivepoorprecisionduetolossofvolatilesandtodrying.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
